I don't think it will work on scissors.scissors have a different edge from a knife and best is to have them professionally sharpened. cutting sandpaper will slightly improve the edge.

to use this gadget, set the knife down between the two sets of rollers and pull through, pulling downwards (the gadget needs to be wall-mounted).
this means you set the knife down with the handle just behind the rollers, and pull. do it a few times and the knife will be sharp.

but I would not spend more than five bucks on this one, and shipping in a padded envelope should not be more than 3.00. this unit is old and not in top shape.
Do not use on serrated knives!
